Compassion Ministry

Compassion

The purpose of the Compassion Ministry at Abiding Love International Fellowship is to provide both spiritual and physical needs of our community. The Ministry is set up to help individuals in the church and the community to meet their spiritual and physical to the extent possible within the limit of its resources.

The Ministry distributes groceries to the community after the service every Sunday. We also provide hot meal on individual basis for those who participate in our services. In the winter season, we do coat drives and give out clothes to those who need one and we do this until we run out of stuck for the season.

Evangelism Ministry

Evangelism Ministry

Comm-Day-(75)In line with one of our objectives, which is “to bring unbelievers into experiencing the unconditional love of God”, evangelism is one of our key areas of ministry focus at Abiding Love. We believe in growing our church through outreaches to the unchurched and we do this through many avenues. One of such ways is our summer “Jesus Loves You” outreach, whereby we go around the neighborhood, including Parks and minister the love of Christ through by giving people cold water along with tracts.

We also share the gospel with them and invite them to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Another way we do this is through special events organized in our Parking Lot, usually scheduled for Saturdays, to benefit our community. For example, we do organize health drive, whereby we invite the Red Cross and other health care providers to provide health screening and counsel to people. Another example of such special events is clothes drive, whereby we give out clothes and shoes.

As people come, we also share with them tracts as well as minister the love of Jesus to them. In collaboration with our Compassion ministry, we distribute food every Sunday afternoon to members of our community and we use the occasion to share the gospel with people and to invite them to partake in the Bread of Life.

Missions

Mission to India

MissionIn October 2006, Pastor Akin Bankole along with Mother Pearl Forde and Sister Esther Taylor took a mission trip to India. The team spent a week in North India with Pastor Mahi Pal Singh and the Pentecostal Church of God in Etah, Uttah Pradesh, North India. During this visit, Pastor Akin, Mother Forde and Sister Esther ministered in churches, schools and at special events, including open air services.

The team also visited Pastor Daniel and the Voice of the Gospel Ministries in Thrishur, Kerala, South India. The team visited and ministered at some of the Mercy Homes, a Ministry of the Voice of the Gospel, including the Ambassadors Mercy Home and the Cornerstome Mercy Home. Pastor Akin also preached at a hall packed Women’s Convention. Over the two weeks visit to both of the North and South Indian Ministries, many people gave their lives to the Lord and many received healing and deliverance. To God Be The Glory!

Mission to El Salvador

In June 2009, our former Praise and Worship Leader, Ms. Oyin Bankole left for El Salvador to join the Assembly of God’s Master’s Commission program. Oyin was in El Salvador for one year and a couple of months during which she joined other colleagues at the King’s Castle to minister the love of Jesus Christ to the people of El Salvador. Oyin’s program in El Salvador also included studying toward becoming a Youth Minister. She will be back in El Salvador for her graduation ceremony. Please join us in thanking God for granting her a safe and fruitful residence and ministry in El Salvador. We are delighted to have Oyin back and to see her play key roles in the worship and teaching ministries of the church.

In June, Minister Oyin went back to El Salvador to work at the King’s Castle as a Summer Intern. She worked with several teams from different countries, including the United State to do outreaches to minister the love of Jesus Chrsit to the young people people of El Salvador.

In August, a group of seven adults and youth from Abiding Love went on a mission trip to El Salvador and the team worked with Oyin and her team as well as a number of young people from the King’s Castle Ministry. During the seven days that the group spent in El Salvador, we did outreaches in different parts of San Salvador, reaching young and older people with the message of God’s love through dramas and songs. Many young people gave their lives to the Lord and a few adults did too. In addition, God did mighty miracles during those outings, including giving a three year old boy who never walked the strenght and ability to walk for the first time in his life. To God Be The Glory.

Discipleship Ministry

Discipleship

DiscipleshipThe discipleship ministry at Abiding love consists of the in-house preaching and teaching activities of the church, aimed to equip believers to grow in their relationship to God and with one another.

These programs of preaching and teaching are tailored to:

(1) Educate new believers about their relationship to God and to one another; and

(2) Help maturing believers to advance to higher levels of spirituality and maturity through advanced teaching and training that will help them discover and use their spiritual gifts.

Key among the programs of this ministry are:

  1. Preaching at regular and special services
  2. Regular Sunday school classes for adults and children
  3. Regular weekly Bible study
  4. Scheduled classes to teach on church ordinances
  5. Teaching at the Church’s school of ministry

The ministry is coordinated by the Lead Pastor, with the assistance of the Co-Pastor. These activities are undertaken by the four Pastors, who God has given complementary gifts, and who are committed to harnessing and using these gifts to the glory of God and for the edification of the Saints at Abiding Love.
